I started playing Super Mario Bros on Nintendo when I was 5, and got sucked into BBS in junior high. I have been a web developer since the mid 90s, and a triathlete for the past 8 years. I have a degree in Computer Engineering and have worked in R&D as well as Marketing for a large Asian electronics company. I took on photography as a hobby since 2003. Hi my name is Mandy Brake and I built this site for my brother Michael. What? That's so weird. Who builds a website for their brother? What happened to Michael? Don't worry, Michael is healthy and happy. He is actually a web developer too. We both have backgrounds in computer engineering. These days he's busy with his startup in Asia, and
I'm busy with mine in Houston. Why then, did I build this site for him? As web developers, we always seem to be working on other people's sites and don't have time to create our own. I wanted Michael to have a place to showcase his beautiful photography work. And most importantly, I wanted to show that it is possible to code and build a site that looks nice from scratch without using Wordpress or any kind of website template, just by writing code in a simple text editor. Yes, my passion is teaching complete beginners how to code and make websites from scratch, because I used to be a beginner too, and having a mentor to guide you can make a world of a difference.
